There are some really interesting fun facts about gambling that we just have to share. It’s impossible to establish where gambling originated, most believe that it originated at the beginning of mankind’s existence. It seems that every culture had its own form of gambling in history. Gambling was seen as a method of bloodless conflict resolution. There is also a legend that two kings resolved a territorial dispute by throwing dice.

Every culture around the world had gambling games. So it can be said that gambling didn’t originate in just one location and spread, it’s something that happened naturally. Most ancient games started by using dice and cards and today it’s still the same. Sport wagering also started back in ancient times, like in Rome the citizens would place bets on Gladiators fighting. It’s established that gambling is just part of basic human nature. Whenever someone had the wealth and possessions of value to wager they would do so in a game of chance.

So nobody really started the whole gambling thing but it just originated by itself. Archeologist findings prove that gambling started quite a while back. There are records of gambling dating back to 2300 BC in China and gambling with dice was found in sites in Egypt dating back to before 1500 BC. Gambling just improved over the years to the point where you don’t have to leave the comfort of your home to participate.

• The first Slot machine was invented by Charles Fey in 1899.
• Blaise Pascal the great French mathematician and philosopher invented Roulette; it was a by-product of his experiments with perpetual motion.
• Sheep’s ankle bones and shoulder blade bones were used in ancient Greece to make dice.
